Why Your Sleep and Energy Might Be Suffering (And What to Do About It)

June 12, 20252 min read

How would you rate your sleep? And what about your energy? Do you base it on how long you slept—or how you actually feel when you wake up?

In this post, I want to share a deeper look at what truly impacts your rest and energy levels, and how small but powerful changes can shift everything.

The Real Reasons Behind Sleep Struggles

For many people, it’s not just one thing. It’s falling asleep with a racing mind. It’s waking up to use the restroom, or waking up for no reason and not being able to fall back asleep. Or it’s getting “enough” sleep but still waking up feeling exhausted.

And when your body is tired, it’s easy to dismiss it: “I’m just getting older,” or “My mom always had sleep issues too.” But your biology isn’t your destiny.

The 360° View of Rest and Energy

As a non-cracking chiropractor and functional nutrition specialist, I look at sleep and energy through three key lenses:

  • Movement: You can’t undo 8–10 hours of stillness with 30 minutes of exercise. Your body needs regular movement throughout the day.

  • Nutrition + Hydration: What and when you eat (especially around lunch and dinner) impacts how well your body can rest, restore, and digest.

  • Mental + Emotional Stress: It’s not just about winding down before bed—it’s about creating micro-rest moments throughout the day to support your nervous system.

It’s Not One-Size-Fits-All

There’s no magic bedtime or universal sleep schedule. Everyone’s circadian rhythm is different. The key is finding what works for your body—and learning how to reset it when life throws you off track.
